Ayurveda & Herbal Treatments (Package 2)

This tour is based on special Ayurveda Panchakarma Treatments.

Abhyanga is a form of Ayurvedic therapy that involves massage of the entire body from the head to the toe with Dosha-specific warm herb-infused oil. The oil is commonly pre-mixed with herbs for specific conditions.

Shirodhara is a classical and well-established ayurvedic procedure of slowly and steadily dripping medicated oil or other liquids on the forehead. This procedure induces a relaxed state of awareness that results in a dynamic psycho-somatic balance.

Dry Brushing is an ancient Ayurvedic practice. The Sanskrit word Garshana, (pronounced gar-shun-uh), translates to ‘friction by rubbing. ‘ This practice involves a stimulating massage to detoxify your lymphatic system, refresh your skin and revive your mind.

Svedana or Swedana, means to “perspire”. It is used in Ayurvedic treatment. It is also called as steam therapy. There are different types of swedana. Sitting in sun is also called as swedana. Swedana is a pre procedure for Panchakarma. Snehana and Swedana are pre procedures for Panchakarma.

In Sanskrit, the word Udvartana means “to move something in an upward direction”. This refers to the upward direction of the strokes used during the massage. The brisk massage techniques combined with the penetrating herbs create heat in the body to help liquefy toxins, reduce fluid retention, and increase circulation.

Ayurvedic treatments work by engaging all Five Senses. Vital energy points, called marmas, are stimulated through the power of touch to promote the rebalancing of the body and mind. Specific herbal medicines utilize the sense of taste and color treatments work through the organ of sight, the eyes. Aromatic oils work directly on the sense of smell to harmonize the entire body and finally, listening to relaxing Gandharva Veda music during and after your treatment helps to still have an active mind.

In Ayurveda, the nose is considered the direct route to the brain and also the doorway to consciousness. It is the entrance for prana, the life force, which is carried into the body through the breath. Healthy uncongested breathing is important to ensure proper flow of prana throughout the head and body, which has a reverberating effect on the health of the entire body-mind.

Known as the Ayurvedic Head Massage & Nasal Therapy, it is basically a blend of Ayurvedic head massage with nasal administration of herbal oil. It stimulates vital organs and systems by clearing the energy pathways in your head. Highly beneficial for headaches, allergies, neck, ear and throat problems.

Pinda Swedana is a common form of Swedana in which the medicaments are tied up in a cloth and used for therapy. In Patra Pinda Swedana, leaves of medicinal plants and other drugs are tied up in the cloth and applied to the body while frequently heating it. Also called Ela Kizhi, the treatment is usually done after a light oil massage or Abhyanga; it offers relief in diseases related to bones, muscles, and nerves.
